  • Role: Senior Global Events Marketing Manager, Developer Experience & Marketplace, Nokia
  • Type: Mobile Industry Event

  • Description:  At Nokia, I was responsible for the strategy, planning and execution of developer events that had a global impact and audience.  I was also responsible for enabling field marketing teams with standardized resources to support their local trainings, meet-ups, sponsorships and community activations around the world.  One of the programs for which I was directly accountable was the successful planning and execution of Nokia’s app developer events at Mobile World Congress 2013.  MWC hosts over 75,000 attendees annually in Barcelona, Spain and is one of the top strategic industry shows for Nokia to showcase new offerings and connect with it's partners.  I worked cross-functionally and across international borders to build alignment among a diverse team of stakeholders. These groups included the developer relations and strategic partnerships teams in Silicon Valley,  Nokia’s “Here” maps division in Chicago, Nokia corporate communications in Helsinki, the Microsoft Windows Phone team in Redmond, the GSMA hosting organization, Ivory Worldwide event services agency based in London and several other teams with many shared and competing interests.  I provided end-to-end program management and was solely responsible for managing a €1.3 million budget across a set of three events during MWC.
  • Nokia's App Developer Conference was a full day conference - within the congress - empowering mobile developers with tools and technologies to succeed on Nokia and Windows Phone platforms. It featured exhibits, contests, partner programs, a morning keynote session and three concurrent tracks of programmed content for all skill levels. We hosted over 3,000 attendees in a single day and exceed our qualified lead generation goals by 28%.
  • In addition to the Nokia ADC, I also planned and executed two offsite events. This included an appreciation dinner for 150 strategic content partners at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and a Developer appreciation party for 500 people at Sotavento Nightclub on the Barcelona beach boardwalk.
